Fusing Mediums to Create Unique Art for You
noun: a merging of diverse, distinct, or separate elements into a unified whole
... Merriam-Webster
I started as a photographer, capturing stories of people, places, and things in extraordinary ways. Now I add more emotion to the stories by fusing encaustic painting, block printing and other mediums with my photos.
My art is inspired by the Pictorial style of photography practiced in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The Pictorialism movement was an attempt by photographers to make their photos look more “painterly” by, e.g., smearing Vaseline on the lens, smearing the wet photo negatives, and other means. I’ve updated the process to include digital enhancements and fusing different mediums
